@Libations & Co.
Welcome, {{secret_name | Secret Reader}}
Should you ever need proof that Kansas City’s cocktail culture extends beyond downtown, drive 20 minutes east and duck into Libations & Company in downtown Lee’s Summit.
Tucked inside a century-old brick storefront, Libations feels like a chapter pulled straight from KC’s Prohibition past — vintage fixtures, dim Edison bulbs, and a bar team that knows their classics. The 1909 Club upstairs is even named for the year that building was first listed in the town directory, when it served as a pharmacy. These days, it’s a different kind of medicine.
This week’s lineup leans right into that same energy — jazz lounges, cocktail bars, and a few oddities that make KC’s fall weekends hit.
I’ll see you at the bar.

The Last Call
“The night is the other half of life, and the better half.”

The Sazerac
The Sazerac isn’t just a cocktail — it’s a ritual. Born in New Orleans in the mid-1800s, it started with Cognac, moved to rye, and found its lasting signature in the absinthe rinse. The balance is what makes it timeless: sugar for warmth, Peychaud’s bitters for bite, and a swirl of lemon oil that ties the whole thing together.
Order one when the band’s on their last set, and you’ll see what I mean — it’s the sound of brass fading into a glass that never quite empties.
Here’s to another good weekend in Kansas City. 🥃
Stay sharp, KC ☾
