Editor’s Note
March has come to an end, but not quietly.
We've gotten past the difficulties of the Ides—missed opportunities, weather fluctuations, and nights that didn’t quite come together. This weekend, there’s a lot happening beneath the surface. Planet Comicon Kansas City attracts a lively, costume-clad crowd downtown—energetic and a bit chaotic—and it generates its own after-hours vibe just outside the event. Meanwhile, Women's History Month features in marketplaces that highlight women-owned businesses.
And then there are the rooms still to be discovered. The Brass Onion is one of them. Old school, a little tucked away, and already starting to draw the kind of crowd that doesn’t need to announce itself. The kind of place you stop into once, then keep in rotation.
This weekend you ain’t got to run it all down. Sometimes, it’s about moving well. Knowing when to stay and when to leave.
I’ll see you at the bar.

Last Call 🍸

The Outlaw Manhattan
I had dinner at The Brass Onion in Overland Park, a family-owned restaurant dedicated to serving comfort food at its finest. The staff exudes a warm, family-like vibe in their attitude and service. I ordered the Outlaw Manhattan, which arrived swinging from the glass. It's part of their Barrel Program and is crafted with Maker’s Mark 46, Lustau Sweet Vermouth, G.E. Massenez Gingembre, and Angostura bitters. It's an ideal spot for a first date (or second, or seventh) — and don't miss out on dessert; I chose the cobbler!
Stay sharp, KC ☾
